      2011년 싸이월드 뮤직 12월 이달의 신인상

      The trio of Kiggen, Sanchez, and Hanhae surfaced mainstream in 2012 although the three were involved in music much earlier.

      Sanchez and Kiggen were labelmates under another agency before they signed with Brand New Music. Kiggen even promoted under the name of HybReFine, an electronic music project. Sanchez chipped in by offering his vocals for the song "Cosmic Dance".

      As for Hanhae, he was a Block B trainee under the sister company Stardom Entertainment before he came over to Brand New. He was initially supposed to be the mail vocalist of the group Block B, but ended up going his separate way.

      The guys slowly started to ease into the public's eye and a big part of that was in thanks to labelmate Verbal Jint. Sanchez starred in Verbal Jint's music video for "You Look Good" in 2011, which also featured singer NS Yoon-G. Hanhae and Kiggen played small roles in the
      video as well.

      The guys uploaded songs and videos on YouTube, which started to garner a small fan base. They finally released their official single "Burn A Hole In Your Face" in November of 2011. The original music video was deemed too graphic (it showed a girl shot in the head with a gun), and so they made some edits to make it more appropriate.

      Even though the group hadn't officially debuted, they were awarded Cyworld Music's "Rookie of the Month" award for December of 2011.

      The group started promoting as opening acts or side performances alongside Verbal Jint. They were also mentioned in Verbal Jint's song "Thank You".

      In addition to performing with Verbal Jint, Phantom also made a cameo in Skull's single "Trash". Their biggest pre-debut break probably came when they were chosen to sing the song "Ice", to be used in a beer commercial for the figure skating queen, Kim Yuna.

      Sanchez even featured on Verbal Jint's hit song "You Deserve Better" in 2012, which got some people wondering who is this soulful voice? And who the hec is this talented group Phantom?

      They finally made their official debut in August of 2012 with a ballad "Seaweed Soup" and their mini album "Phantom City". The title song was titled "Burning".
      They were able to hit #10 on the Gaon National Physical Album Sales Chart.
